Doin' My Part For Equality

From: "Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD)" [Add to
Subject: March with GLAD at Boston Pride 2005
Date: Tue, 31 May 2005 14:44:59 +0000

Dear Jo,

It’s that time of year again! Pride is coming up—June 11th—and your presence is critical to GLAD’s future success! The more visible GLAD can be, the more people will learn about their legal rights and about GLAD’s resources, including its legal hotline. But we can’t do it without YOUR help! We need numbers—BIG numbers of us, our families and our friends.

The GLAD Team will be meeting at Copley Square at about 11am and will be traveling through the South End to the Boston Common. If you’d like to be a part of the fun, all you have to do is bring your smile, we’ll provide the snazzy GLAD t-shirt. Please let us know if we can help you with special accommodations.

We hope you can join the GLAD Team on June 11th. Please e-mail our Outreach Director, Alexis Hill by June 3rd, to tell us you’d like to be a part of the GLAD Pride Team. Be sure to let us know how many supporters you can bring with you. (Everyone will get a t-shirt!).

Remember, there’s POWER in numbers!

Thank you for all you are doing in support of GLAD!

Sincerely,
The GLAD Pride Team

Yep,

I was the

no,

she can't be.

Kinda dyke.

Actually

I never wanted the title.

My

"lover"

insisted

on it.

It was just
another
measure
of control
for her.

I fundamentally reject titles.

I refuse
to be catagorized
by any
one segment
of my persona.

The fact
that I had
woman to woman
sex
for seven years
has little
to do
with
where
I'll go
in future.

I'm a mind person.

I love
people
for whom
they are.

Not
their
possesions
or
genitalia.

Period.

Coming Out In One's Hometown

I have agita regarding my ex.
The woman some people think doesn't exist because I hesitate with good reason to mention.
If one makes a faulty decision to accept damaged goods while engaging in a relationship unsanctioned by society...so much the worse.

Love is a leap of faith under any circumstance.

Put trust and faith into a relationship unsantioned by society and caveat emptor.

GLAD HOTLINE Q&A

Q: We are a married lesbian couple in Massachusetts who recently gave birth to a child and both of our names are recorded on the birth certificate. Some of our friends tell us that the non-birth parent should also do a second-parent adoption. Do you think that this is necessary?

A: Congratulations on the birth of your child! Even though you are both listed on the birth certificate and are presumed under Massachusetts law to both be the child's parents, that presumption could be challenged in court, and your marriage may not be respected outside Massachusetts. Therefore, we do strongly recommend that the non-birth parent obtain a second-parent adoption to give maximum legal protection both to the child and the non-birth parent.

If you have legal questions call the GLAD hotline at 1-800-455-GLAD.
